TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
Inside the Roadtronix System
A closer look at how Roadtronix captures the road surface, processes LiDAR data and supports surface control during paving.
HOW ROADTRONIX WORKS
From Scan to Surface Control.
Roadtronix is built around a continuous measurement workflow. During paving, high-density LiDAR captures the road surface, software filters temporary site activity, and the resulting profile is used to support surface control.
Instead of working from isolated readings, the system uses a dense measured profile across the selected scan length. This gives crews a more stable basis for adjusting asphalt thickness as paving conditions change.
Scan
A high-density LiDAR sensor continuously scans the pavement surface ahead of and behind the paving operation.
Process
Smart software analyses the incoming data, removing irrelevant objects while identifying the true pavement profile.
Measure
The processed data provides accurate, comprehensive measurements for a clear understanding of the surface.
Control
The resulting information guides asphalt thickness adjustments, helping maintain a stable and even material depth.
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
Adapt to Different Paving Conditions.
Roadtronix can be configured on-site to suit the road layout, machine setup, paving width, and project conditions.
Align the scan to suit site conditions.
The scan position can be adjusted to suit the paving setup, site constraints and the area being paved.
This flexibility allows measurement to be applied where it’s most effective, whether working around obstacles, road edges, curves or changing site layouts.
Adjust scan length in real time
Scan length can be adjusted in real time to suit different paving conditions.
Shorter scan lengths are better suited to constrained areas such as curves, intersections, and urban roads, where conditions vary and tighter control is needed.
Longer scan lengths are suited to highways, runways, and open sections, where extended averaging helps deliver smoother results across distance.
System Capabilities
Engineered Precision. Built for Site.
Intelligent Measurement
Smart algorithms automatically filter out disturbances, while continuous averaging stabilises surface data - delivering consistently smooth paving results in real time.
Accuracy & Surface Quality
Thousands of measurement points capture detailed surface conditions. More data points mean smoother asphalt and consistent results across varying paving environments.
Flexible Scan Length
Adjustable scan range up to 20 metres. Short-range scanning supports local roads and tighter corners, while extended range delivers optimal smoothness for highways, airports, and racetracks.
Fast, Simple Setup
Travels securely in a carry case. From case to paving in under two minutes, with true one-person setup. The system can be moved or powered on/off without interrupting operations.
Mounting Flexibility
Mounts directly to the paver with no welding or drilling required. Supports multiple mounting positions and operates effectively even in confined or tight working spaces.
Safety & Simplicity
No heavy beams to lift or manoeuvre. Low footprint system reduces operator risk and site disruption - maintaining clear, unrestricted access for trucks and paving equipment.
SAFETY ON SITE
Designed with Site Safety in Mind.
Roadtronix is designed to reduce manual handling and simplify setup around the paver, helping crews work safely without adding complex equipment around the machine.
No long beams or skids: Reduces lifting and handling strain
Compact system: Minimises equipment footprint around the paver
Fast setup (< 5 min): Less time spent in active paving zones
No welding or modification: Avoids additional setup risks
